Comment: What a beautiful place to stay!We had a great time- whether eating in or out. House was lovely, we even used the woodburning stove once & soon warmed up the whole room. We ate and drank at the Sun Inn just inside Hawkshead - great atmosphere and pretty good food- reasonably priced. Had days out at the Cumbrian Heavy Horse Centre inc.riding, & indoor sitting area for those who dont ride - quite pricey, great for the enthusiast but caters for all levels of experience and ability. We also did a trip to the slate mines - well worth a trip!
Walk to Tarn Hows was managed by all the family and somewhat more challenging was the Latter Barrow and Claife Heights but manageable even for the not-so-fit would be walkers! We even did fishing and hill running.
Locals really friendly and the service from the local milkman was great. All-in-all recommended, shops and pubs in Hawkshead worth a visit - great food from the deli. Loads to do even if it rains as house lovely enough to stay indoors :-)

Comment: Excellent accommodation, open plan
upstairs brilliant for the children.
Flat well equipped for us as we love
cooking and eating in i.e microwave,
oven, large freezer (so useful), 2
bathrooms and games room all perfect for
our needs. Only down side only room for
2 cars and we had 3/4, lady very
accommodating though and helped us with
alternate arrangements.We will
definately use The Briars on a annual
basis (except 2011 as there will only be
6 of us).
