This fine example of a 17th century Lakeland barn has been converted to form two charming cottages - Barn End is the smaller property which is tucked into the hillside and surrounded by beautiful rural countryside.
Situated down a quiet country lane, under 2 miles from Hawkshead and close to Ambleside for shopping and eating out.
The owners have added many personal touches to create a homely and welcoming atmosphere. This comfortably furnished cottage provides a popular, cosy hideaway for all year round use.
For walkers there is a wide variety of routes from low level walks to more challenging mountain walking all within easy access.
THE ACCOMMODATION COMPRISES OF:
Entrance which leads into the beamed sitting room/kitchen with traditional slate flagged floor with sofa and arm chair by the woodburning stove, TV with Sky Freeview and DVD. There is also a DVD player / radio.
The newly fitted kitchen has built in electric cooker, and hob, dishwasher, built in microwave and fridge. There is a breakfast bar and chairs.
Upstairs there is a charming kingsize bedded room complete with window seat overlooking the lawned, enclosed garden.
The good sized bathroom offers bath shower, w.c and basin.
Gas central heating throughout.
Outside is a separate utility room with washing machine, dryer and freezer and plenty of room for keeping walking gear or bikes. There is a small enclosed, private lawned garden with table and chairs. and off road parking adjacent to the property.

Comment: The cottage was lovely, cosy and had everything we needed. The location was perfect. We took many of the walk routes from Hawkshead direct from the cottage so no need to use the car - which was great - a pleasant walk into the vilage. Would definitely like to return to the area and the cottage. Spectacular area for walking.

Comment: we booked barn end to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary hoping to have awonderful relaxing week, to our delight thats what we had, wonderful views and spectacular walks, we enjoyed the walks around coniston in particular the waterfalls and mines. our only regrete is that we only had a week. it was useful having the milkman deliver so many goods but the walk to hawkshead via the fields was peacefull and relaxing thank you

Comment: Lovely little cosy cottage. Very warm & welcoming, we felt right at home straight away. Loved the Chinese-style screen separating bedroom & bathroom, and the woodburner. The dog loved the fire too! Clean & comfy, this retreat for 2 had everything you needed. The cooker took some working out, and we eventually gave up & called for assitance, which arrived within half an hour. Excellent service! We walked every day straight out the door, calling at Hawkshead on the way home for a well-earned pint & a bit of people watching. Plenty of pubs to choose from in Hawkshead. Queens Head very nice but a bit pricey, Kings Arms more down to earth. Best walks from the door to Tarn Hows & on to Coniston Water through Monk Coniston; Latterbarrow for a fab view for very little effort; and a nice level walk past Blelham Tarn to Wray Castle on Windermere & back. Thanks Hideaways - we have every intention of returning. We are looking forward to it!
