This is a fascinating property, a former bobbin mill with its' large waterwheel intact. Set into the hillside in a secluded secret valley less than a mile from Hawkshead, this wonderful heritage site allows guest to enjoy the tranquillity of a lovely location enhanced by the sound of the waterfall.

The cottage is simply furnished and allows guests to take a step back in time - perfect for birdwatchers, walkers or guests who simply enjoy getting away from it all and enjoying good company without television and other distractions.

Access to the cottage is down a track leading through an iron gate and across a field to a second gate leading to the hidden valley where Bobbin Mill Cottage is tucked away.

The large oak door leads to a hallway with room for boots and coats. There is a large living/dining room with open fire, beams, and many original features, and a variety of seating. There is a large oak refectory table perfect for family meals or playing games. The owners have provided games, local books and maps for guests. There is a CD player and a phone for incoming and local calls. A large basic flag-floored kitchen leads from the living room and has an electric cooker, fridge freezer and microwave. Water is from a local source and is filtered using UV filtration though good water can be pumped from the well in the kitchen wall.

Up the slate staircase (rather steep) there is a spacious bedroom with 2 single beds and 1 small double (4ft) bed, and a usable fireplace. Up a flight of wooden stairs is the bathroom with cast iron bath and basin and wc. Up another step is the large double bedroom with wooden floor, original fireplace and antiques. Heating is by night storage heaters and open fires.

There is a large wild garden area with stream crossed by slate bridges (children will need to be supervised). There is a swing from the horse chestnut tree, plenty of woodland to explore and an area of lawn for picnics.
