Lakeland Hideaways Lakeland Hideaways Lakeland Hideaways Lakeland Hideaways

We are pleased to welcome this very special cottage to our portfolio starting July 2011. Honeysuckle Cottage is a beautiful traditional Lakeland cottage nestling on the edge of Grizedale Forest.

A substantial renovation by the current owners has recently been completed to provide an exceptionally cosy, welcoming and comfortable hideaway, combining modern day comforts with old world charm. The cottage has underfloor heating and beautiful oak cottage-style doors throughout. Set in the pretty village of Satterthwaite and having a sunny private garden this is a cottage we know our guests will fall in love with.

The accommodation consists of an open plan lounge and dining hall with slate flooring, contemporary oak furniture, woodburning stove and beams. The large oak dining table is perfect for family meals. The open plan lounge has plenty of seating on comfortable soft leather sofas, a large flatscreen TV with satellite Freeview & DVD player. Off the hall there is a carpeted snug which can be used as a separate TV lounge with flat screen TV. Past the snug and off the hallway can be found the light conservatory/morning room with porcelain flooring and windows overlooking the rear garden. The porcelain floor runs through to the compact well equipped kitchen, designed to provide a double oven with hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. Off the conservatory is a modern fully tiled wet room with walk in shower, basin and wc.

The curved staircase leads to a lovely carpeted landing off which there is a master bedroom with king size bed, a charming double bedroom, a pretty twin bedroom and a fourth bedroom furnished with bunk beds. The large family bathroom is complete with white bathroom suite, bath (with high pressure shower), basin, wc and bidet.

Outside to the rear there is a pretty, very private garden - great for al fresco dining with beautiful views of the Grizedale/Rusland Valley. Off road parking for 2 cars.

Comment: A year or two ago we stayed next door in Rose Cottage whilst Honeysuckle was being renovated so when we had the chance we plumped for this larger property. This was a very warm and comfortable property which is well appointed and equipped. The location is very good for exploring the forest from the door of the cottage and easy access for other walks, Hawkshead and the nearby visitors centre. We were lucky with the weather during the daytime but no matter how cold it was a night the cottage was cozy. The owner also called us during our stay to make sure all was well - which is a first for me - so a welcome suprise. This feels like a home from home and, in my view, represents good value for money and so it is thoroughly recommended.

Comment: Great cottage, very comfortable and extremely well equipped in a lovely location. We were a party of two families with children, and there was plenty of space to keep everyone happy, and we had a fantstic week of walking and exploring the surrounding areas. We know the Lakes well, but have not stayed in Grizedale area before, but would recommend it, and this cottage.

Comment: Really liked this cottage. It was nice to arrive to a warm house. The furniture and beds were comfortable and the cottage is well equipped.Would benefit from an extra clothes airer as there is no tumble drier. We really enjoyed being able to walk straight from the door into Grizedale forest and made up some lovely long walks for Ellie the labrador using the excellent map available from the visitor centre. The woodburner set in a beautiful lakeland stone fireplace was great to sit by in the evenings.Would be quite happy to book this cottage again.

Comment: A lovely cottage, had everything we needed. Did
struggle to get the heating under control, but only
a minor point. Comfortable, clean and a great
place to relax in after a day out in the hills.
The local pub was very warm and welcoming with
great food too.
A bit more storage would be the only real
improvement, and maybe another clothes airer.
Handy on those wet rainy days we seemed to get
several of this year.

Comment: All the way from South Africa and we had
the most perfect weeks holiday at
Honeysuckle Cottage.The accommodation
was outstanding. We had visitors from
different parts of the UK. Some stayed
for two days, some for three days and
everyone agreed the cottage was ideal
for a family and friends get
together. The local pub was everything a
village pub should be,and the food there
was excellent.Grizedale Forest being
only 3 miles away meant we had some very
good walks and the dog really enjoyed it
as well.
There were two things we felt might be
improved. Somewhere to hang clothes in
the bedrooms, easily remedied.
A village shop, not so easily remedied.
We will be visiting the UK next year and
hope to be able to book Honeysuckle
again.
Best wishes to you all at Hideaway.

Comment: We all had a lovely time staying in such a clean, attractive and well equipped cottage.
Nice friendly pub in the village and our teenagers enjoyed Go Ape at the nearby Grizedale Forest Park.
Interesting (although long) walk across the fields to the Sawreys too!
