Borwick Fold is set in a wonderful, tranquil location high on Hawkshead Hill close to Tarn Hows, with truly superb panoramic mountain views. Surrounded by fells, tarns, woodland, it offers a superb base for many outdoor activities, and in which to unwind. Two rather special self catering cottages have been imaginatively converted from the barn and stables of the 17th century farmhouse. Tack Room offers very comfortable accommodation for 4.

THE ACCOMMODATION CONSISTS OF -

Tack Room’s farmhouse kitchen with a local slate floor and worktops, beams and a stable door looking across the valley, is well equipped and has a double oven electric cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer. The antique church pew, farmhouse table and chairs are ideal for leisurely starts to the day and for candlelit dinners. (washing machine and freezer in shared utility room).

Stairs lead up to the sitting room with beams, polished wooden floors and rug, windows on three sides, hundreds of books, a flatscreen 32" TV with digital 'Freeview' channels, DVD player and comfortable seating. There is Broadband Internet access for your computer.

The bathroom has a bath/shower, washbasin and toilet and leads off the sitting room.

The staircase leads up to two very light , pretty attic bedrooms with velux windows - one has an antique brass and iron bed and the other twin pine bedsteads.

Borwick Fold cottages stand in 3 ½ acres of gardens, fell land and paddock and is managed for wildlife - with conservation and the environment in mind. Owls hunt on the property and deer and red squirrels frequently visit. A hide, created to attract wildlife, provides views over the fells and to our nearby watering hole. Dibley, the black Labrador plays in the courtyard. Pygmy goats and free range geese in the paddock, are occasionally joined by Exmoor ponies during the summer . Guests have the use of picnic tables and Petanque pitch. There is off road parking for 2 cars.

Comment: An excellent holiday destination. With fantastic views across to Windermere and Esthwaite and a very warm welcome from Lynda and James. Ideally suited for day excursions and 10 minutes to Ambleside and 5 to Hawkshead. Dibley the dog and the pygmy goats added to a wonderful week. Highly recommended!
