Comment: This is our second stay in Curlew and we had a lovely week. Amazingly, the weather stayed dry until Friday so we had some lovely walks. We can recommemnd the Kings Head for a drink and/or meal - very cosy atmosphere. If you want good value sandwiches or snacks The Cobblers sandwich shop is just between the Queens Head and The Ivy B&B. The cottage is very comfortable and clean, kitchen well stocked with pots, pans, china, glasses etc. The woodburner gives out so much heat we were pinned to the walls! Only complaint was that apart from one small cream jug there was no decent sized milk jug or gravy boat.

We will return!

Comment: Cottage absolutely superb. Perfect.
directed and equipped to the highest
standard. Wonderful views from the
cottage. Eating out every night at the
Kings Arms, superb food with excellent
service. Favourite walks are Loughrigg
Terrace, Loughrigg Tarn. Around both
Grassmere and Rydal Water. Elterwater.
So many beautiful places. We will be
back again next year for the 12th year,
hopefully in Curlew again. Well done
Hideaways and thanks for your excellent
service, best holiday cottage company I
have dealt with. Graham Ritchie

Comment: The cottage is a beautiful place and ideally situated for peace and quiet but still close enough to walk into Hawkshead. The owners have thought of everything that you may need during the stay. We had a fantastic week here.
Tarn Hows is always a splendid place to stroll around. We took some beautiful photographs despite the weather.
The Langdales are always worth a visit, whether it be for a drive around the valley or a walk up to the mountain tops where the views are breathtaking.
Hawkshead offers a range of inviting pubs to eat in, our favourite is The Queens Head but it does get busy so you have to get there early.
Once again a fantastic property from Lakeland Hideawyas, one I will certainly be staying in again.

Comment: Delightful cosy cottage perfectly placed
for Hawkshead village.
Would recommend dinner at the Kings Arms
(Must book)
Local beer tasting essential.
Easy walk around Tarn Hows a must see, a
photographers dream.

Comment: We had a wonderful time at the cottage, pity about the weather though, the cottage had everything povided for our comfort the log burner on the wet evenings with a glass of wine (heaven) we will be booking it again.

Name: Diana Turner - 21-Apr-2012
Comment: We emphasise we agree with every good point made in
other reviews, but the wood burner was quite hard
work when on holiday, as it needs a lot of attention
and logs fetching from the hut. But it was pleasant to
experience its essential warmth on colder evenings!

Comment: This is the second time we have stayed at Curlew Cottage. The Cottage is lovely and has everything you need and more. The location is ideal for the Village and as a starting point for some great walks. We hope to book again soon.

Comment: We had a fantastic week in your lovely cottage. Everything was perfect with lovely views from all rooms. The kitchen is very well equipped and spacious. The cottage is perfectly situated with just a 2 minute walk into the village. Nice well maintained gardens. We liked the idea of having milk etc being delivered to the doorstep, very good service. Over all we all thought the cottage was very spacious yet cosy and we hope to be back in the future.

Comment: A very comfortable, well-equipped cottage with wonderful views. The under-floor heating was a bonus.
Would help if the name was displayed at the gate - it cannot easily be seen from the lane when in a car.
Having stayed with you before and knowing the system it was difficult to find no milk had been left for our arrival. Had we known we could have bought some in the village before coming to the cottage. (We are not very mobile).

Name: Tracey Johnson - 6-Aug-2011
Comment: The cottage is beautiful - tastefully decorated to the highest standard and immaculately clean. The location is ideal too. We stayed during quite a wet week but the cottage was such a home from home that it was no hardship spending time indoors. I particularly loved the kitchen - spacious and well equipped. The only issue for me was that the outside space is not quite dog-proof so our Retriever could only be in the garden when we were. - A minor issue only which really did not detract from a most relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

Comment: Hello,
We have just returned from two weeks staying in Curlew Cottage Hawkshead. Despite the weather being its usual mixed blessing we had the most wonderful comfy time with all the comforts of home plus the most beautiful scenery immaginable. The people at Hidaways could not do enough for us and the meals from Cumbrian Way the best invention yet!!!! We shall be back for a repeat presciption next year. Our complements to the owners from a very jealous visitors Brian and Janet

Comment: We recently stopped in Curlew Cottage, had a wonderful holiday. The cottage was absolutely perfect, everything about it was perfect. The best recommendation I can give it is we will be booking it again and again and again. As for Hideaways and especially Emma, again you looked after us brilliantly, I always recommend you to friends and associates

Comment: Curlew cottage is a very spacious cottage with gardens front and back.
Only a few minutes walk from the centre of Hawkshead. Idealy placed to take advantage of all local walks and fishing.
If you want to leave your car there is a local bus service to Ambleside where you can branch out to places like Kendal or Kesick aswell as Windermere on a all day ticket. For the outdoor holiday this is the perfect place.
