Comment: Stayed here for a week for new year 2012
with a lovely welcome of a bottle of
champagne and big box of chocolates -
thank you. Absolutely lovely cottage,
well equipped family kitchen to do some
nice home cooking in on those cold
winter nights. Bedrooms with en-suite
in every room was just fabulous a real
plus to the accommodation. Cottage was
constantly warm, plenty of space and was
just ideal. Cottage is in a beautiful
spot ideal for walking to Tarn Hows and
close to Grizedale Forrest. The Sun Inn
in Hawkshead did some lovely meals,
unfortunately the Drunken Duck was too
busy so perhaps we will go there next
time!! Would recommend to friends and
will definetely be coming back, The
Ganlys, Newton le Willows, Merseyside
had a fabulous week and are looking
forward to when we can come again.

Comment: We stayed here for Xmas 2012 and it was perfect.
A gorgeous cottage, beautifully decorated with
everything you need. Spacious but cosy at the
same time. Great location too. We will definitely
be booking again.

Comment: Spent a great half term break here with our 3
children. The farmhouse was very tastefully
decorated to a high standard and felt very
cosy. The bedrooms were lovely with excellent
ensuite facilities. The children particularly loved
having a TV in their bedroom! Very convenient
location for Grizedale forest, and Tarn Hows.
We all had wonderful time and would definitely
return to Field Head farmhouse.

Comment: Field Head Farmhouse is a ideally situated just outside Hawkshead. The house itself is very tastefully decorated to an extremely high standard - we were all delighted with the accommodation. For a walking holiday (we managed approx 9 miles per day) the surrounding areas are beautiful, there are plentiful good restaurants and pubs - The Outgate Inn is recommended and for a birthday dinner we dined at The Drunken Duck Inn. Having wi fi in the house was an added advantage enabling my husband to download his daily newspaper! I personally loved sitting at the top of the garden and drinking in the amazing views. If you are thinking of booking do take the virtual tour that is what sold it to me!

Comment: The online photos of this property underestimate the charm and luxury offered within. We arrived on a freezing December evening to be greeted by some mulled wine and baskets of logs by the woodburning stoves. The clean lines of the property, and the original exposed beams throughout, gave space yet warmth. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could want, in prestine condition. It felt like a home from home and whether a base for fell walking or a cosy cottage to stay in and relax it was ideally suited. Finishing touches such as the OS maps for the area and the complete pictorial guide to the lakeland fells in the dining room made clear that a great deal of effort had been taken to make our stay as easy as possible. We are hoping to return for future holidays such was the positive experience of this week in the lakes.

Comment: We stayed in February we really loved the area and come back year after year. Really pleased we found such a gem of a house. Our 2 boys (aged 7 and 10 ) loved exploring the garden and they thought it was excellent having a bathroom and TV each! A fab house, great for a family holiday will be back next year . Thanks.

Comment: THE HOUSE
As the first occupants we were very nervous about spoiling the beautiful decor-including the dog!The kitchen is very well equipped and had enough crockery etc for visiting relatives. There should be photos of the bedrooms and en-suites-all large and lovely and totally wasted on our teenagers.
GARDENS
Lovely with several seating areas-only downside could be that they are shared with the 2 other cottages but not a problem for us.
WALKS
Great access from the door for easier walks and access to more challenging via hawkeshead hill to coniston area without having to go near Ambleside.
EATING OUT
Drucken Duck great. Outgate Inn easy walk.
TEENAGERS
Go-ape fantastic. Sailing at Low wood windermere.
Rating-10/10-we went in June but think it would be great at any time of year. A really great house.
