Brook End is a beautiful, traditional Lakeland terraced Cottage that is set in the pretty hamlet of Far Sawrey. There is a pub and little village shop and Far Sawrey is surrounded by the rolling countryside so loved by Beatrix Potter. This cottage has been recently refurbished. Retaining the charm of the building the owners have added all the modern comforts creating a welcoming home. This a great base for exploring the Lakes or simply taking one of the many walks which start straight from your door.

The accommodation comprises of;

The stable door leads from the little lane into the lounge with it's impressive fireplace and large woodburning stove, flatscreen TV, DVD, Sky Freeview and WiFi internet access. The deep leather settees are great for relaxing in after a days walking or sightseeing.

To the rear of the cottage there is a newly refurbished open plan kitchen/dining room. The kitchen is light and airy and is equipped to an excellent standard with induction hob and double electric oven with integral microwave, dishwasher, fridge and washer/dryer(small freezer under the stairs). From the dining room there is a back porch with heater and plenty of space for boots and coats and access out onto the sunny patio.

Up one flight of stairs there is a stylish family bathroom with bath with shower over, basin and wc. and with views towards the church a master double bedroom which has ensuite with shower, basin and wc.

Up a second flight of stairs there are two additional pretty bedrooms with dorma windows and low beams - one double with views of the rolling hills behind the cottage and one twin bedroom with views towards the church. All bedrooms are furnished to a high standard with quality pine furniture.

Comment: This cottage is very comfortable and has good facilities. The walks really are straight from the door. The terraced garden at the back is a lovely place to sit and have breakfast on fine days. The Cuckoo Brow Inn is very welcoming especially if you have a dog.

We would like to go back sometime.

Comment: Cottage really clean and tidy, but tall people must watch headroom when on stairway to top floor, good head of hair recommended. Motor museum, town end and botanic garden made for good visits, Ruskin house excellent with good cafe and craft centre (shop really)attached. Blackwell was worth a revisit, but despite an exhibition seemed to lack some of the contents we thought we had seen previously. However food in cafe well up to scratch (but not a pie and peas establishment). Note that the cottage garden not really securely enclosed, so if have an adventurous dog it could be off and away.

Comment: The cottage was lovely - well equipped, beautiful location, wonderful local walks, very easily accessed from Hawkshead. Excellent kitchen, generally well equipped, though casseroles and bowls for cooking for six would have been helpful.

We were there when the weather was bad - thick snow - but the setting in the snow was magnificent. The cottage was warm and cosy. A small point - there were no firelighters or kindling when we arrived on a cold, dark, snowy evening; however, the central heating was very effective.

Nice ensuite and bathroom. Very comfortable beds in all rooms.

Excellent for dogs.

A very enjoyable stay!

Comment: Just spent a great week at Brookend. The
cottage was beautifully presented, especially the
bathrooms. Lots of fantastic walks straight from
the door and great to see Sawrey stores back
open. Food and welcome at the Tower Bank as
good as ever. All in all a brilliant week, hope to
see you next year.
