This pretty semi- detached cottage is a good example of a traditional Lakeland farmhouse dating from the 17th Century and made of local slate. The farm is in the (almost) secret valley of Dale Park which nestles close to Grizedale and Hawkshead and offers peace and tranquility.
The cottage has charm and character reminiscent of years gone by. With a large private orchard and open fire this cottage offers excellent value for a family holiday for 4 in beautiful surroundings.
The entrance leads into the large open plan lounge/kitchen with comfortable seating with 2 leather settees , open fire and TV with DVD and Video and CD player. There is a newly updated kitchen at the back of the room with electric cooker, microwave, freezer and dishwasher . There is also a dining table and chairs.
Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms. The first is a twin to the rear of the house and the second larger bedroom has a double and excellent views towards the woods. There is a bathroom with bath with shower over, toilet and wc.
Outside there is a large, private orchard with furniture for guests and plenty of space for parking. There is also use of washing machine and secure bike storage in the barn if required

Comment: A fully equipped comfortable character cottage with
open fire and private orchard. Within easy reach of all
the Lake District has to offer. Ideal for us and our
two dogs. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and
sipping a glass of wine in the orchard after a long day
out. Our hosts were very friendly and
accommodating. Our favourite lake was Coniston and
we returned a few times to Brantwood and the lovely
food served at the Jumping Jenny bistro there. We
also enjoyed our journey on the Lakeside &
Haverthwaite Steam Railway to Lakeside and then the
Windermere Lake Cruise. Make sure you visit Tarn
Howes, Borrowdale, the Honister Pass, Derwent Water
& Buttermere. We had some nice evening meals at
The Eagles Head, Satterthwaite and at The Outgate
Inn, Hawkshead. Beautiful countryside. A very
enjoyable holiday.

Comment: We had the perfect holiday, the weather
surprised us and was lovely. Anne and
Colin the owners were fantastic, so
friendly and helpful. The cottage was
perfect, had everything we required,
what a peaceful perfect location. The
orchard was fantastic for our 15 month
old and our dog, we could let them run
about in a really safe area. Thanks, we
will absolutely most definitely be back!

Comment: Lovely setting, helpful owner, very quiet. Lovely log fires. Walks from the door. Good meals at Eagles Head, Satterthwaite but it has irregular opening times. Great day out for walkers in the Duddon Valley. Have a delivery of groceries from Tesco at Barrow in Furness (on line)

Comment: Really lovely cosy cottage. We have stayed in a
lot of places in the Lakes & this has been our
favourite cottage, good kitchen, nice size rooms,
lovely fire. Orchard great for the dog to run round
before setting off for the day.

Comment: Had a fantastic week. Cottage great very welcoming, everything you could need was available. The orchard was a fantastic place for the children and the dog to play in while mom and dad could sit and enjoy the peace and quiet of the beautiful location. The open fire was enjoyed every night after long days of walking which could be enjoyed straight from the front door. Ann and Colin were very freindly great if you needed advice. Will definately be returning.

Comment: This is a very nice place! The farm is in the middle of the forest, the cottage is clean and cosy. There is a nice small collection of books with information and suggestion for walk and other activities. The Landlord are talkative and willing to help.
We enjoied the open fire and the unlimited availability of logs to burn. The nearest market place is 4 or 5 miles away by very twisty road but this is the price to pay in order to be in this incredibly relaxing place.
The garden (orchard) is large and if you are lucky with the weather it is very sunny.
