Comment: Another great stay at 2, Beck - our 4th. Weather was decidely mixed but that just gave us opportunity to stay a bit more local and enjoy the forest and continue our search for the Lake District's 'best Bacon Bap' - an award now held by the Village Bakery in Broughton in Furness. We were also delighted to see a Red Squirrel (and reported on to the Westmorland Red Squirrel people who are monitoring such things). Cottage well recommended for comfort and facilities.

Comment: We love this little cottage. Its always been very well equipped and its being maintained in good order. The location is excellent with so many different walks for the dogs straight from the doorstep. The "Silurian Way" is a great day out; finding all the sculptures along the way adds a purpose to the beautiful scenary. 2 weeks of bliss for us & the 2 dogs. We will visit again.

Comment: This was our second stay in the cottage, for a
very good reason. It is immaculately decorated,
with all the amenities you could ever need, set in
a tranquil and remote spot in the Grizedale
forest. From the moment you walk through the
door, it is immediately apparent the time and
effort that has gone into renovating the cottage to
a high standard. The river at the bottom of the
garden is majestic, and despite staying with a
toddler posed no problems due to the secure
porch doors. A wonderful experience, thoroughly
recommended to anyone who wants to relax, and
bowled over family members who visited us
during our stays. 5 star plus accommodation!

Comment: Peaceful location and nicely appointed, comfortable cottage. Nearby access to variety of woodland walks which our dog enjoyed enourmously.

We had all our evening meals at the cottage and the good range of cooking equipment was great.

It was very handy having the washing machine and drying room.

The garden and outside seating area was well used too.

Comment: An absolutely fabulous cottage. Very spacious, with all the facilities and much more. Extremely clean.

We enjoyed every day, and were sad to go home.

We are not strangers to the Lakes, but not this area.

It is quite a hike to the nearest town (Hawkshead) but you soon get used to it.

I would recomend it to anyone.

Thanks for a great stay.

100 COOL COTTAGE

"the ones that meet the Sunday Times gold standard. "

"Superb value for money: a newly
prettified terraced cottage with a beck
at the bottom of the garden and
Grizedale Forest on the doorstep.
The kitchen-diner still has the original slate
floor, and there are wood-burning stoves
both here and in the sitting room."
