Comment: Thank you for a very relaxed, peaceful and enjoyable stay. We have stayed before and returned because we had happy memories. The wood burning stove was very welcome this time. A very good centre for walking from base or using the bus. We hope to return. Thank you.

Comment: The cottage was absolutely brilliant. Location is bit difficult to find when we first got there but the area is really beautiful. The Cottage was clean, spacious and tidy and modern but has character and very welcoming. We have a great time at the cottage and will be considering going back again. We really love the gallery and would definitely recommend to anybody.

Comment: We have stayed in many cottages throughout the lake district and this has to be the best in all respects - location, facilities, decor, garden & grounds, parking, traditional features. We did all our walks from the cottage and barely used the car all week. We would highly recommend the cottage and will be returning again in future.

Comment: We had a fantastic 4 night break in
February. The barn has been thoughtfully
converted to be spacious and comfortable
- we have stayed in smaller cottages
designed for 4!! The log burning stove
was lovely at night after walking home
with snow and ice on the ground. We
hardly used the car during our stay with
lovely walks in every direction and The
Outgate pub only a short walk for drinks
and meals. Definitely one of the best
places we have stayed in!!

Comment: What a great place to stay. Good quality furnishings and fittings throughout. Love sitting in the gallery in the comfortable recliners with a nice cupper. Lovely log fire to warm you in the winter. Comfy firm bed and good size television. Will definately go back and what a great retreat.

Comment: Unique property with very nice mezzanine bedroom and mini-lounge with picture window overlooking farm land. Very comfortable and generally well fitted out. Improvements - details on switches particularly bathroom towel rail, supply of DVDs would have been appreciated, some OS maps for the non-serious walkers. Otherwise brilliant.

Comment: We enjoyed our stay in the sympathetically converted barn with its spacious accommodation and large well maintained garden. We spent quite a lot of time sitting in the gallery with its views across the countryside. Overall we thought the standard of the accommodation was higher than we had expected.
We liked the location because we could leave the car behind and walk to Tarn Hows, Coniston, Hawkshead and Latterbarrow. We could also walk to the bus stop in Outgate and use our over 60s bus passes on the hourly service between Ambleside and Coniston. Once in Ambleside we could catch the open top 20 minute service to Grasmere, Bowness etc.
Most evenings we had a meal at the pub/restaurant in Outgate. We also had a sandwich lunch in the Red Lion in Hawkshead.
