Holidays in Broomriggs

A guide to holidays in Broomriggs

Set in an enviable elevated position overlooking the tranquil and scenic Esthwaite Water, Broomriggs is perfect for a quiet getaway, set back from a long driveway decorated with rhododendrons. Dating back to the turn of the 20th century, Broomriggs is a splendid example of a quintessentially English country house, set within its own hundred-acre estate.

While still retaining its traditional county house charm, Broomriggs has now been converted into a series of apartments so that more visitors can soak up the charm of this place and the surrounding Lake District in comfort and privacy. More than a hundred acres of gardens and woodlands are free to explore from the Broomriggs cottages and apartments, while private lake frontage and rowing boats are also available.

Aside from its manor house splendour and its vast grounds, the main draw of Broomriggs has to be the surrounding scenery; each cottage enjoys spectacular views not only out over Esthwaite Water but also to the surrounding mountains of the Langdale, Wetherlam and Coniston ranges. Nearby, Broomriggs is within easy reach of Hawkshead as well as Near and Far Sawrey, two villages which helped to shape the stories of Beatrix Potter, while the surrounding mountain landscape makes the location perfect for a walking or a hiking holiday.
